We launched this site on 8th November 2008. Since then the page has been slowly developed into an increasingly-comprehensive collection of Swindlehurst data. Basically this database, prepared by Michael following his exhaustive (and exhausting!) research, has 2 separate components: IND data - all identified individual entries in the various genealogical sources (including bmd registers, census data and parish records) in chronological order, and DB data - the actual or potential connections between people of adjacent generations. Please note that this database will be progressively updated as new material is discovered.

The huge mass of data in these components has been split into smaller files, in parallel between the components, in order to make it more easily comprehensible. To facilitate public access, the files are held in .rtf format in the datafiles folder.

Also from Michael are listings of Swins in the far-flung corners of the Empire! These (currently) comprise Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA and Isle of Man (aka Manx) lists. They are held in the Expat families folder.

In addition, research (sometimes over many years) has been carried out by individuals into their own family origins. The trees currently known to us are those of Allan, Arthur, Dyanna, Michael and Gill (all Swindlehursts), Roy Swinglehurst, Linda Brooks, Nicola Howe and Ruth Colley. They are held in the Individual Trees folder.

Further to these individual Line of Descent files, Michael has assembled 4 files showing the Central Branch data. These are held in the Central branch folder.

The folders and files listed above refer to individuals with the standard Swindlehurst and Swinglehurst spellings. Through the centuries there have been many other versions of the spelling, samples of which are shown in the Variations file

The Lancashire On-line Parish Clerks (LOPC) group has identified a mass of Swindlehurst-associated data. Michael has arranged the data in 3 files (lopc1, 2 and 3) which are held in the LOPC folder. Also in the folder is a LOPC file listing equivalent entries for variant spellings.
